Dear Resident:
We are looking forward to an exciting new year with you as our resident! In order to make your move-in as smooth as possible, please familiarize yourself with the detailed instructions below.
MOVE IN DATE: Refer to your Lease Start Date. (**This can be found on page 1 of your lease agreement**) between 8:30am- 6pm.
Please make sure you have the following on Move In Day. See below for more information on each item.
Proof of Renter's Insurance - More Info here**
A Valid Government ID (Driver's License, State ID, etc.)
First Month's Rent (Certified Funds, Check, or through the online portal).
Security Deposit. Needs to be a separate payment. (Certified funds or through the online portal).
Vehicle Registration for your vehicle's parking permit. (There's one pass per resident).
To make the check-in process as quick as possible, we recommended that you pay rent as early as possible. Payments can be made by Money Orders, Checks, or Cashier's Checks. (Cash is not NOT accepted.)

**Include your Apartment number in the Memo of any check or money order.
Vehicle Registration
Your vehicle must be registered in the office to receive a parking decal. Please be prepared to provide your make, model and license plate number. You MUST provide the automobile registration of the car you are going to register. The vehicle MUST be registered in your name or in your parent’s name to receive a parking decal. Only one car may be registered per resident as we have very limited parking spots.
What to Expect on Move-In Day
All lease documents including your guarantor form must be signed and completed prior to move-in day. All monies owed will also be due on or prior to your move in day.
How to Check In and receive Keys to your new apartment:
During the appropriate move-in hours, come to the leasing office located at 1212-D Oakland Avenue Greensboro NC 27403.
Bring your Photo ID for verification.
Your file will be verified for completeness and receipt of all applicable rent and fees paid. To avoid delays on your move-in day, we recommend that you make payment arrangements and verify that all paperwork is complete prior to August 1st. Including Proof of Renter’s Liability Coverage. Any forms in your resident file that have not been completed prior to move-in day will be done so at this time. In order to minimize the time that each individual waits in line, it is best to keep the number of guests with you in the move-in line to a minimum.
The staff will then issue the entry and bedroom keys to your apartment and give you a Move In Condition Form.
Pet information: Furry friends are welcome. Upon move in your pet should be registered on file with us. A one-time non-refundable pet fee will be due at, or prior to, move in of $300. A monthly pet rent will be due there after in the amount of $20.00 per month. No aggressive breeds allowed and all pets must be under 35 lbs. **Please note that should you decide to add a pet you must obtain written approval from your roommates that which should be submitted to the office at the time the pet addendum is signed and pet fees/rent will begin on that date.
Move-In Condition Form and how to receive your Mailbox Keys: It is best to complete this form on move in day and return it immediately to the leasing office. Your mailbox key will be issued once we receive your completed Move-in Condition Form.
If the Move-in Condition Form is not received within 48 hours of your move-in date, we will assume you have accepted the apartment in “as-is” condition.
**Renter’s Insurance: Personal Liability Coverage Requirement** More Info here**
Burkely Communities requires all residents to provide proof of a minimum of $100,000 personal liability coverage as a condition of residency. This proof can be emailed to your office staff in the form of a Declaration Page or a Confirmation Letter from your agent and must list your property as an "Interested Party" on the policy.
You may buy insurance from any licensed agent or use:
MFIP insurance created a program for Burkely residents so you are already pre-approved for coverage, enrollment takes less than 5 minutes and proof of coverage will automatically forwarded to your community office. Some Additional FAQ:
Parking and Loading? On move-in day you will be able to park in the parking lot but space is limited. We do not have assigned parking. We do ask that once you are finish unloading to please move your U-Haul/Truck to the back of the parking or on the street for parking so that others can unload as well.
Can I move in early? We have a particular make a ready schedule and to allow enough time to get all of our units looking great for you we cannot allow any early move-in times or dates. Sorry, NO EXCEPTIONS!
When do I need to pay my first month of rent? To make the check-in process as quick as possible, we recommended that you pay rent as early as possible. Please keep in mind that you will not be able to pick up keys until your first month of rent is paid. See above on how to pay.
Can someone else pick up keys for me? We do not recommend releasing keys to anyone other than the resident due to security issues. If, however, you must have someone other than the resident pick up keys you must submit WRITTEN permission and the person is picking up keys MUST have the first month of rent (if not already paid), and your government issued photo identification...NO EXCEPTIONS!
