What to Expect on Move-In Day

All lease documents including your Co-signer (if applicable) must be signed and completed prior to move-in day.  All monies owed will also be due on or prior to your move in day.

How to Check In and receive Keys to your new apartment:
During the appropriate move-in hours, come to the University Landing leasing office located at 1610 E. Washington Street, Greensboro, NC 27401.

Bring your Photo ID for verification.

Your file will be verified for completeness and receipt of all applicable rent and fees paid.  To avoid delays on your move-in day, we recommend that you make payment arrangements and verify that all paperwork is complete prior to August 1st. Including Proof of Renter’s Liability Coverage.  More Info here**

Any forms still needing to be completed must be completed at this time.  In light of COVID restrictions and in order to minimize the time that each individual waits in line, only the resident on the lease is asked to enter the move-in line or office during check-in

After all has been verified, the staff will then issue the entry, bedroom and mailbox keys to your apartment and give you a Move In Condition Form.

Pet information: Furry friends are welcome. Upon move in your pet should be registered on file with us. A one-time non-refundable fee will be due at, or prior to, move in of $400.  No pets over 45 lbs and management must meet your pet for approval.

Move-In Condition Form:   It is best to complete this form on move in day and return it immediately to the leasing office. If the Move-in Condition Form is not received within 48 hours of your move-in date, we will assume you have accepted the apartment in “as-is” condition.

**Renter’s Insurance: Personal Liability Coverage Requirement** More Info here**

Burkely Communities requires all residents to provide proof of a minimum of $100,000 personal liability coverage as a condition of residency. You may purchase insurance from any licensed agent or use:

Some Additional FAQ:

Parking and Loading?  On move-in day you will be able to park in the parking lot but space is limited. We do not have assigned parking. We do ask that once you are finish unloading to please move your U-Haul/Truck to the back of the parking or on the street for parking so that others can unload as well.

Any abandoned vehicle that has been unloaded for an extended period of time, subject to manager discretion, will be towed at the owner’s expense.

May I move in early? We have a schedule for the painters and cleaners that allow enough time to get each apartment ready by the assigned move-in day. Unfortunately, we cannot allow any early move-in dates or times. We are sorry, there will be NO EXCEPTIONS.

When do I need to pay my first month of rent? To make the check-in process as quick as possible, we recommended that you pay rent as early as possible, but no later than August 1, 2021. Please keep in mind that you will not be able to pick up keys until your first month of rent is paid. See above on how to pay.

Can someone else pick up keys for me? We do not recommend releasing keys to anyone other than the resident for security reasons. If, however, you must have someone other than yourself, (the resident ) pick up keys you must submit WRITTEN permission at least 24 hours before your move-in day and the person who is picking up keys MUST have the first month of rent (if not already paid), and both your government issued photo identification as well as their own. There can be NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.

How do I receive my GPA discount if I made the Dean’s List the Spring Semester of 2021? Either bring proof of making the Dean’s list with you on your move-in day or send the proof to the office in advance of your move-in. All GPA discounts will be given off September 2021 rent.
